Intensive completion of the year 2020 with 10 workshops and one media briefing held

In the last quarter of the year of 2020, the Policy and Legal Advice Centre (PLAC III) project has organised 10 workshops for representatives of beneficiary institutions and one media briefing. Out of 10 workshops, two were held as two-days training sessions. The workshops were held as the final part of each particular activity and gathered more than 150 participants coming from beneficiary institutions (line ministries, institutions, health and educational institutions, etc.). Project activities were directed to the harmonisation of legislation in the following areas:

-  Recognition of professional qualifications; postal services, as parts of the Negotiation Chapter 3;

- State aid in the field of culture and media, as part of the Negotiation Chapter 8;

- Capital markets, within the Negotiation Chapter 9;

 - Official food controls; training of inspectors on food fraud; sprouts and seeds legislation, as parts of the Negotiation Chapter 12;

- Legislation on the protection of biodiversity, within the Negotiation Chapter 27 and

- Prevention and treatment of opiate addicts, as part of the Negotiation Chapter 28.

The third in a series of briefings "What European standards bring to Serbia" was held on 15 December. The briefing focused on improving the prevention and treatment of opiate addicts and reduction of health-related harm associated with drug dependence.

All events were organised and held online, due to the need to respect preventive measures during the Covid-19 pandemic. Through joint efforts the project team, experts and representatives of the beneficiary institutions have developed an efficient way of working that has completely replaced the holding of events in a traditional way.

In the same period, the project has prepared and published a brochure "Halfway -achievements and results in the period January 2019 - August 2020" which summarises the results achieved in the first half of the implementation period.
